Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from Osaka, take the Kansai Expressway (西名阪自動車道) towards Nara. After approximately 45 km, take the exit towards Nara IC (奈良IC). Continue on Route 369 for about 10 km until you reach Nara city. Follow the signs to Saidai-ji, which is located at 1 Chome-1-5 Saidaiji Shibacho. There is parking available near the temple, but it may incur a fee depending on the duration of your stay.

  • Train

    From Osaka Station, take the JR Yamatoji Line (大和路線) towards Nara Station. The journey takes about 45 minutes. Once at Nara Station, transfer to the Kintetsu Nara Line and take a train towards Kintetsu Nara Station. Upon arrival, exit the station and take a local bus (bus number 3 or 4) to Saidaiji. The bus ride will take approximately 15 minutes. Alight at the 'Saidaiji' stop, and the temple is a short walk from there.

    If you are in Kyoto, take an express bus from Kyoto Station to Nara. The bus ride will take about 1 hour. Once you arrive at Nara Bus Terminal, you can take a local bus (bus number 3 or 4) towards Saidaiji. The bus ride will take approximately 15 minutes. Get off at the 'Saidaiji' stop, and you will find the temple a short walk away.
