Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from Koshi to the Contemporary Art Museum Kumamoto, start by heading north on Route 57. This road will take you directly towards Kumamoto City. After approximately 15-20 minutes of driving, keep an eye out for signs indicating the city center. Once you reach Kumamoto, follow the signs for Chuo Ward. The museum is located at 2-3 Kamitoricho, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto, 860-0845. There is parking available nearby, but be aware that parking fees may apply.

• Public Transportation - Train

  For those opting for public transportation, you can catch a train from Koshi Station to Kumamoto Station. The journey will take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Kumamoto Station, exit the station and head towards the bus terminal located outside. Take the city bus #A or #B towards Kamitoricho. It will take around 10 minutes to reach the stop closest to the museum. Get off at 'Kamitoricho' bus stop, and from there, it’s a short 5-minute walk to the Contemporary Art Museum Kumamoto located at 2-3 Kamitoricho, Chuo Ward. Please note that the train fare is around 400 yen.

• Public Transportation - Bus

  Alternatively, you can take a direct bus from Koshi to Kumamoto. Check the local bus schedule for the next available service. The journey typically takes about 40 minutes. Once you arrive in Kumamoto, ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest stop to Kamitoricho. The museum is a short walk from there. The bus fare will usually be around 500 yen. Ensure to have cash ready as not all buses accept credit cards.
