If you are driving, take the Kyushu Expressway towards Kumamoto. Depending on your starting point in Kyushu, enter the expressway at the nearest interchange. Once you approach Kumamoto, take the Kumamoto IC exit. Follow the signs for Kumamoto city center. As you reach the city, look for signs leading to Kumamoto Castle (Kumamoto-jo). There are several parking areas available near the castle, but they may charge a fee (approximately 500-1000 JPY). The castle is located at 1-1 Honmaru, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto, 860-0002.

If you are using public transportation, take the Shinkansen (bullet train) to Kumamoto Station. From Kumamoto Station, you can take a local tram (Kumamoto City Tram) to get to the castle. Board the tram bound for 'Hanabatacho' and get off at 'Kumamotojo Shiyakusho-mae' station. The tram ride costs around 200 JPY and takes about 15 minutes. From the tram stop, it is a short 10-minute walk to Kumamoto Castle. Follow the signs or use a map to navigate your way to 1-1 Honmaru, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto, 860-0002.

The bus fare will vary based on your starting point but generally ranges from 1500 to 3000 JPY.
