4.2

Nestled in the scenic town of Fujikawaguchiko, the Mount Fuji Distant Worship Site (Tenku no Torii) is a captivating Shinto shrine offering a unique perspective on the iconic Mount Fuji. Constructed in 2019 as part of the Kawaguchi Asama Shrine complex, the site features a striking vermilion torii gate that perfectly frames the majestic mountain, creating a picturesque scene that has become a popular photo spot. For centuries, Mount Fuji has been revered in Japan, worshipped by the Ainu, Shinto, and Buddhist traditions. Kawaguchiko Asama Shrine was erected to appease the mountain after a significant eruption in 864. The Tenku no Torii provides a space to worship Mount Fuji from a distance, especially since women were once prohibited from climbing the mountain. Visitors can enjoy the tranquil atmosphere, explore walking paths, and appreciate the blend of natural beauty and spiritual significance. The site is particularly enchanting during sunrise and sunset, with cherry blossoms in spring and vibrant foliage in autumn adding to its charm. Whether seeking spiritual enlightenment or a memorable photo, Tenku no Torii offers an unforgettable experience.
