If you're driving to Gura Falls, start by heading towards Nyeri Town in the Central Kenya region. From Nyeri, take the Nyeri-Nairobi Road (A2) and drive for approximately 15 kilometers until you reach the junction for the Nyeri-Karatina Road (B2). Turn left onto the Nyeri-Karatina Road and continue for about 20 kilometers. Look for signs directing you towards Gura Falls, which is located near the Aberdare National Park. The falls are approximately 10 kilometers from the main road, so be prepared for some rough terrain. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for off-road driving. Parking is available near the falls.

To reach Gura Falls using public transportation, first, take a matatu (shared taxi) from your current location in Kilimanjaro Region to Nyeri Town. Matatus frequently run this route, and the fare is approximately 200-300 KES. Once in Nyeri, look for matatus heading towards Karatina. Get off at the junction where the Nyeri-Karatina Road meets. From there, you may need to hire a motorcycle taxi (boda-boda) or a local guide to take you the remaining distance to Gura Falls, which could cost around 500-1000 KES, depending on negotiations.

For those adventurous souls, an option is to hike to Gura Falls. Begin your journey from the nearest town or village along the Nyeri-Karatina Road. Depending on your starting point, you may need to ask locals for directions to the falls, as this route is less traveled. Make sure to carry sufficient water and snacks, as well as a map or GPS device. The hike can take several hours, so start early in the day. It’s recommended to go with a local guide who knows the trails, which may cost around 1000-1500 KES.
