Travel Guide to Blue Lagoon 1 and Phu Kham Cave Vang Vieng

Getting There

• Car

  From Vientiane, head north on Route 13. Follow the signs towards Vang Vieng. After approximately 150 km, you will reach the town of Vang Vieng. Once in town, follow the signs leading to Blue Lagoon 1. The lagoon is about 7 km from the town center. You will need to pay an entrance fee of around 10,000 LAK ($1.00 USD) to access Blue Lagoon 1.

• Public Transportation

  Take a bus from the Southern Bus Terminal in Vientiane heading to Vang Vieng. The journey takes about 4-5 hours. Once you arrive in Vang Vieng, you can hire a tuk-tuk or rent a bicycle to reach Blue Lagoon 1, which is approximately 7 km away. Expect to pay about 30,000 LAK ($3.00 USD) for the tuk-tuk ride or 10,000 LAK ($1.00 USD) for bike rental. There is an entrance fee of around 10,000 LAK ($1.00 USD) to access the lagoon.

• Car

  After visiting Blue Lagoon 1, continue to Phu Kham Cave, which is about a 15-minute drive from Blue Lagoon. Head back towards Vang Vieng and follow the signs to Phu Kham Cave. The cave is well marked and requires an entrance fee of approximately 10,000 LAK ($1.00 USD).

• Public Transportation

  From Blue Lagoon 1, return to Vang Vieng by tuk-tuk or bicycle. Once in town, you can catch a shared tuk-tuk heading towards Phu Kham Cave. The ride will take about 30 minutes and cost around 20,000 LAK ($2.00 USD). There will also be an entrance fee of approximately 10,000 LAK ($1.00 USD) to enter the cave.
