Discover more about Moleturm

The Moleturm, also known as the Friedrichshafen observation tower, stands as a landmark at the entrance to the city's harbor on Lake Constance. Erected in 2000 during the renovation of the harbor piers, it has quickly become an iconic symbol of Friedrichshafen. The tower's design is intended to complement the Bauhaus architecture of the nearby Zeppelin Museum. Rising to a height of 22.25 meters, the Moleturm offers visitors a stunning panoramic view of Lake Constance and the distant Alps. The ascent to the top is via a steel staircase with 117 steps. The two upper platforms can accommodate around 50 people each. The tower's construction is notable, with a foundation depth of 55 meters and a weight of over 47 tons. It is built on eight small bored piles, and its supporting structure consists of two steel hollow profile formats with stabilizing diagonals. The concrete-filled steel tubes on the lake side serve as protection against ships. Open to the public without charge, the Moleturm provides an opportunity to experience the beauty of Lake Constance from a unique perspective.
