Discover more about Tettnang New Palace

Rising majestically above the rolling landscape near Lake Constance, the Tettnang New Palace is a testament to aristocratic ambition and Baroque splendor. Originally, a fort stood on the site, which became the residence of the Counts of Montfort in 1260. The old fort was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War in 1633. Count Anton III of Montfort initiated the construction of a grander palace in 1712, seeking to create a residence that reflected the family's power and status. The palace's construction saw interruptions due to funding issues and a fire in 1753, but it was eventually completed in 1770 under Count Franz Xaver. The palace boasts lavish interiors with sculptures and paintwork by renowned artists such as Joseph Anton Feuchtmayer. The Bacchus Hall served as a magnificent setting for banquets. Today, visitors can explore the palace museum through guided tours and wander through the palace's corridors, hallways, and gardens.
