Lower Barrakka: A Serene Oasis in Valletta

Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving, head towards Valletta from anywhere in Southern Harbour. Use the main roads such as Triq il-Lanca or Triq Sant'Anna to reach the city. Once you arrive in Valletta, look for signs for parking areas. The nearest parking is at the Valletta Waterfront or the Triton Fountain area. From the parking, walk towards the entrance of the Upper Barracca Gardens. Lower Barrakka is located a short walk past the Upper Barracca Gardens, just follow the signs for Lower Barracca.

• Bus

  Public buses are available throughout Southern Harbour. Take any bus heading towards Valletta, such as the 61, 62, 63, or 64. After arriving at the Valletta bus terminus, exit and head towards the entrance of the Upper Barracca Gardens. Lower Barrakka is just a short walk away past Upper Barracca. The bus fare typically ranges from €1.50 to €2.00 depending on the time of day.

• Walking

  If you are already in the vicinity of Lower Barracca, simply walk to the Upper Barracca Gardens first. From there, exit the gardens and follow the signs or the coastal path towards Lower Barracca, which is adjacent to the waterfront area. It’s a scenic walk that takes about 10-15 minutes and offers stunning views of the Grand Harbour along the way.

• Taxi

  For a more direct route, consider taking a taxi. Taxis can be found throughout Southern Harbour, or you can book one via a ride-hailing app. Just tell the driver to take you to Lower Barrakka in Valletta. The fare will vary depending on your pickup location but expect to pay around €10-€15 for a short ride.
