From the center of Catoctin Mountain Park, head southeast on Catoctin Hollow Rd. Continue for about 3 miles until you reach the intersection with Harpers Ferry Rd. Turn left onto Harpers Ferry Rd (MD-671) and drive for approximately 1.5 miles. The Maryland Heights Trailhead will be on your right at 489-551 Harpers Ferry Rd, Knoxville, MD 21758. Look for a parking area near the trailhead.

If you are using public transportation, you will first need to take a bus from the nearest station in Frederick, MD. Board the bus heading towards Harpers Ferry. Once you arrive at Harpers Ferry, walk towards Harpers Ferry Rd and head southwest for about 1 mile. The Maryland Heights Trailhead will be on your left at 489-551 Harpers Ferry Rd, Knoxville, MD 21758. Be sure to check the bus schedule for return trips.

If you are already in Catoctin Mountain Park and want to hike to the Maryland Heights Trailhead, start from the Catoctin Mountain Park Visitor Center. Take the Catoctin Trail south until it intersects with the Appalachian Trail. Follow the Appalachian Trail east until you reach the Harpers Ferry area. From there, take the scenic route down to Harpers Ferry Rd, and follow it until you find the Maryland Heights Trailhead at 489-551 Harpers Ferry Rd, Knoxville, MD 21758. This route is approximately 7 miles and can take several hours, so ensure you are prepared with water and snacks.
