If you are in downtown New Bedford, start at the New Bedford Whaling Museum on 18 Johnny Cake Hill. From there, head northeast on Johnny Cake Hill, then turn left onto Union Street. Continue walking for about 0.4 miles until you reach the intersection with Purchase Street. Turn right onto Purchase Street and walk for another 0.2 miles, passing by the beautiful waterfront. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with State Road. Turn left onto State Road and follow it until you reach the bus terminal.

From the New Bedford Bus Terminal, you can catch the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) bus number 60 towards Providence. Make sure to check the schedule for the next departure. The bus ride will take approximately 40 minutes. Get off at the stop closest to 1 Benevolent St, which is in Providence. After disembarking, walk about 5 minutes to reach the First Unitarian Church of Providence by heading northeast on Benevolent Street.
