Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are in the New Center area, head south towards Woodward Avenue. Depending on your starting point, you may need to walk a few blocks. Once you reach Woodward Avenue, turn right (south) and continue walking for approximately 1 mile. You will pass through the Midtown area, which is vibrant and filled with shops and cafes. Continue straight until you reach the intersection of Woodward Avenue and Jefferson Avenue. The Spirit of Detroit is located at 2 Woodward Ave, directly across from the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center. You will recognize it by the large statue.

  • Public Transit - Detroit People Mover

    From New Center, locate the nearest bus stop for the SMART or DDOT buses that head toward downtown Detroit. You can take the #53 Woodward bus southbound. After about 20-30 minutes, you will arrive at the People Mover station (you can disembark near the Jefferson stop). The People Mover is a convenient elevated train that circles downtown. Get off at the 'Cadillac Center' stop. Exit the station and walk east for about two blocks until you reach Woodward Avenue. Turn left and you will see The Spirit of Detroit in front of the Municipal Center.

  • Bus

    Take the SMART bus #53 Woodward from the New Center area towards downtown. The fare is approximately $2.00 one way. After about 20-30 minutes of travel, get off at the stop closest to the intersection with Jefferson Avenue. From there, walk east for about two blocks until you reach Woodward Avenue. The Spirit of Detroit will be visible in front of the Municipal Center at 2 Woodward Ave.
