Start at the Independence Square, where you can catch the KCATA bus route 29. Board the bus heading towards 'Lee's Summit.' Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the stop at '24 Highway & Ranson Rd.' From there, disembark and walk east on Ranson Rd. for about 0.5 miles. You will see the entrance to the James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area on your right.

Begin your journey at the Independence Square. Head south on S Liberty St, then turn right onto E 23rd St. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with US-40. Take a left onto US-40 and follow the road for about 4 miles. Look for the exit towards Ranson Rd, and then follow Ranson Rd. south for another 1.5 miles until you reach the entrance to James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area.

If you're up for a longer walk, you can start at the Independence Square. Walk south on S Liberty St, then turn left onto E 23rd St. Continue straight, passing several shops and restaurants, until you reach the intersection with US-40. Cross US-40 and follow the pedestrian path along the road for about 4 miles. When you see the sign for Ranson Rd, turn right and walk south for approximately another mile until you arrive at the entrance to James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area.
