Getting There

  • Walking

    Start your journey from the main square of Nagarkot. Head east on the main road towards the direction of Bhaktapur. After about 1 km, you will reach a fork in the road. Take the left path that leads downhill. Continue along this path for approximately 2 km until you reach the village of Simalchaur. As you approach the village, keep an eye out for signs pointing towards Namobuddha. Once in Simalchaur, follow the signs leading you to Namobuddha. The final stretch will be a short uphill walk. The Namobuddha tigress engraving is located near the Namobuddha Monastery, and it should take you about 1 hour to walk from Nagarkot to the engraving.

    If you're looking for a more scenic route, consider hiking from Nagarkot to Namobuddha. Start from the viewpoint in Nagarkot and take the trail that leads southeast through the hills. Follow the trail for about 3.5 km until you reach a small clearing. At this point, look for the path on your left that leads down towards Simalchaur. Continue following this path for another 2 km until you reach the village. From Simalchaur, proceed as mentioned in the previous guidance. This route can take about 2 to 3 hours, depending on your pace, but the views along the way are absolutely stunning.
