Getting There

Subway
To reach The Battery via subway, locate the nearest subway station and take the 1 train (red line) towards South Ferry. If you're starting from midtown, you can catch the 1 train at Times Square-42nd Street station. Ride the train for about 10-15 minutes and get off at the South Ferry station. Once you exit the station, follow the signs for Battery Park and walk towards the waterfront. The Battery will be directly ahead.

Ferry
If you are in Manhattan, you can also take the Staten Island Ferry to get a scenic view of the harbor. Board the ferry at the Whitehall Terminal in Lower Manhattan. The ferry ride takes about 25 minutes, and as you approach Staten Island, you will get a good view of The Battery. Disembark at the Staten Island terminal, then take a ferry back to Manhattan. After arriving back at the Whitehall Terminal, walk towards Battery Park to reach The Battery.

If you prefer to travel by bus, you can take the M20 or M5 bus. If you are near Times Square, catch the M20 bus going downtown. It will drop you off at Battery Park.
