Public Transit - Bus and Ferry
From Yonkers, start by taking the Bee-Line Bus #1 from the Yonkers Train Station towards Riverdale. Get off at the stop at 242nd St & Riverdale Ave. From there, transfer to the Metro-North Hudson Line train towards Grand Central Terminal. Ride the train for approximately 20 minutes until you reach the last stop, Grand Central Terminal. Exit the train station and follow the signs for the subway. Take the 4 or 5 subway line downtown towards Bowling Green. Get off at Bowling Green Station. From here, exit the station and walk to the Battery Park Ferry Terminal. Purchase a ticket for the Statue Cruises ferry to Ellis Island. The ferry runs every 20-30 minutes and will take you directly to Ellis Island.

From Yonkers, head to the Yonkers Train Station and take the Metro-North Hudson Line train towards Grand Central Terminal. After approximately 20 minutes, you will arrive at Grand Central Terminal. Once you exit the train, follow the signs for the subway and take the 4 or 5 subway line downtown towards Bowling Green. After a few stops, get off at Bowling Green Station. Exit the station, walk toward the Battery Park Ferry Terminal, and purchase a ticket for the Statue Cruises ferry to Ellis Island. Ferries depart frequently, so you won’t have to wait long.
