Car
If you are traveling by car, head to Takaka Hill Highway (State Highway 60). From the Abel Tasman National Park entrance at Marahau, take the road towards Motueka and then continue on State Highway 60. Follow the highway for approximately 40 minutes. Look for the sign for Hawkes Lookout Parking on the right side of the road at 1147 Takaka Hill Highway. There is ample parking available.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Nelson to Takaka. Nelson Airport has shuttle services that connect to bus services to Takaka. Once in Takaka, you can either take a taxi or rideshare service to reach Hawkes Lookout Parking. The taxi ride will take about 20 minutes and will cost approximately NZD 40-50. Make sure to inform the driver to take you to 1147 Takaka Hill Highway, as this is the exact location of the parking area.
