From the Abel Tasman National Park entrance at Marahau, drive north on State Highway 60. Continue for approximately 34 kilometers until you reach the junction with Pōhara Road. Turn left onto Pōhara Road and follow it until you arrive in the town of Pōhara. Once in Pōhara, head towards the coast, and you will find the Road Tunnel Tarakohe Golden Bay, approximately 5 minutes from the town center. Be sure to look out for signage indicating the tunnel as you approach.

Take the Nelson to Takaka bus service (available through the company 'Nelson Coach'). Get off at Pōhara, which is the closest stop to the Road Tunnel Tarakohe Golden Bay. From the bus stop, it's about a 30-minute walk to the tunnel. Head southeast on Pōhara Beach Road, then take a left onto Tarakohe Road, which leads directly to the tunnel entrance. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services may be limited.
