Getting There

Bus
Take the Blue Line bus from the Christchurch Bus Interchange (located at 37 Lichfield Street). Board the bus heading towards Lyttelton. After approximately 30 minutes, get off at the Stop 'Lyttelton'. From there, transfer to the number 28 bus towards Akaroa. Stay on the bus for about 24 minutes and alight at the 'Lake Forsyth' stop. Follow the signs to the lake from the bus stop.

Bike
Rent a bike from a local rental shop in central Christchurch. Head south on Colombo Street and continue onto State Highway 73 (SH73). Follow the signs towards Lyttelton, then take the road leading to Akaroa. It will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to bike to Lake Forsyth, depending on your pace. Once you reach the lake area, there are designated bike paths to enjoy the scenic views.

Walking to Lake Forsyth from Christchurch is quite a long trek, approximately 45 km, and would take around 10 hours.
