Getting There

  • Public Bus

    From the city center, head to the Bus Interchange located at 37 Lichfield Street. Look for the bus service number 28, which travels to Lyttelton. Board the bus and enjoy the scenic ride. The bus will take you through the tunnel, and after approximately 30 minutes, you will arrive at Lyttelton. Once you disembark at the Lyttelton stop, walk towards Oxford Street, which is just a short 5-minute walk. Head down Oxford Street, and you will find the Lyttelton Harbour Information Centre at 20 Oxford Street on your left.

  • Cycle

    If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the rental shops in the city. Start at the Christchurch Central City and head towards Ferry Road. Follow Ferry Road until you reach the tunnel entrance. You can cycle through the Lyttelton Tunnel (note that cycling is allowed in the tunnel). After exiting the tunnel, follow the road down the hill into Lyttelton. Once you reach the town, continue on the main road until you reach Oxford Street. The Lyttelton Harbour Information Centre will be at 20 Oxford Street on your left.

    For the adventurous, you can walk to Lyttelton from Christchurch. Start by heading to the Port Hills. Follow the walking trails that lead towards the Lyttelton Tunnel.
