Start at the Christchurch Central Bus Station (located at 10 Lichfield Street). Take the bus number 28 (Lyttelton via Heathcote) or 3 (Lyttelton via Ferrymead) towards Lyttelton. The journey takes about 30-40 minutes. Get off at the Lyttelton Main Road stop, which is close to the Lyttelton Harbour.

From the Lyttelton Main Road stop, walk towards the Lyttelton Ferry Terminal, which is approximately a 10-minute walk. At the terminal, look for the ferry service to Quail Island. Ferries run regularly, but check the schedule ahead of time to ensure you don't miss your ride. The ferry ride to Quail Island takes about 15 minutes.
