From the Christchurch Central Bus Interchange, take the Metro bus number 3 towards Sumner. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the 'Sumner Village' stop. From there, walk along the Esplanade, heading towards the beach. Cave Rock / Tuawera is located at 16 Esplanade. The walk is about 10 minutes along the waterfront, and you will see the distinctive rock formation as you approach.

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the many rental shops in Christchurch. Start from Cathedral Square and head towards the Avon River Path. Follow the path until you reach the junction with the Port Hills Road. Continue on the road until you reach Sumner.
