If you are traveling by car, start from the Milford Sound Visitor Centre. Head northwest on Milford Sound Highway (State Highway 94). Continue driving for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the 1855 lookout. The lookout is on your right-hand side, and there will be a small parking area where you can stop and enjoy the stunning views.

If you are using public transportation, take the shuttle bus service from Te Anau to Milford Sound. Upon arriving at the Milford Sound Visitor Centre, you will need to walk towards the main road (Milford Sound Highway). From there, head northwest on the highway for approximately 1.5 kilometers. The 1855 lookout will be located on your right, and you can find a safe spot to enjoy the view once you arrive.

If you are already in Milford Sound and prefer to walk, start from the Milford Sound Visitor Centre. Walk toward Milford Sound Highway (State Highway 94) and follow it northwest for about 1.5 kilometers. The 1855 lookout will be on your right-hand side. Please be cautious while walking along the road, as there may be vehicle traffic.
