Car
If you are starting from Wanaka, drive along the Wanaka-Mount Aspiring Road (State Highway 6) heading north. Continue for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the sign for Mount Aspiring National Park. Turn left onto the road leading into the park. After another 10 kilometers, you will see signs for Niger Stream. Look for the parking area on the right-hand side, where you can park your car.

Public Transportation
Take a bus from Wanaka to the Mount Aspiring National Park Visitor Centre. Check the local bus schedule for the most accurate times. Once you arrive at the Visitor Centre, you can either hike or arrange a shuttle service to travel the remaining distance to Niger Stream. It is approximately a 10-kilometer hike from the Visitor Centre along marked trails. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear and carry supplies.

From the parking area near Niger Stream, you will find a clearly marked walking track. Follow the signs that lead you towards Niger Stream, which is approximately a 1-kilometer walk. The trail is well-maintained but can be steep in some sections, so be prepared for a bit of a climb. Enjoy the scenic views along the way!
