Car
If you are driving, start your journey from Wanaka, which is one of the closest towns to Mount Aspiring National Park. Head northwest on State Highway 6 towards the town of Makarora. This drive takes about 1 hour. Once in Makarora, turn onto the Mt Aspiring Road. Follow this road for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the Aspiring Hut car park. From the car park, the Aspiring Hut Trail begins and is well signposted.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Wanaka to Makarora. The bus service operates regularly, but make sure to check the schedule in advance as it may vary seasonally. Once you arrive in Makarora, you will need to arrange for a taxi or shuttle service to take you to the Aspiring Hut car park, as public transport does not service this area directly. The taxi ride will take about 30 minutes and may cost around NZD 50. From the car park, follow the signs to the Aspiring Hut Trail.
