Getting There

Car
If you are traveling by car, start by driving to Wanaka, which is a common gateway to Mount Aspiring National Park. From Wanaka, take the State Highway 6 towards Makarora. After about 50 kilometers, you will reach the Makarora area. Turn onto the Hawea-Makarora Road, which becomes the Mount Aspiring Road. Follow this road until you reach the Raspberry Flat car park, located approximately 14 kilometers from Makarora. The car park is the starting point for the hike to Liverpool Hut.

Hiking
From the Raspberry Flat car park, follow the track that leads into the park. The trail is well-marked and ascends through beautiful beech forest. After about 6 kilometers, you will reach the junction for the Liverpool Track. From there, take the left-hand track towards Liverpool Hut. The hike is approximately 10 kilometers from the Raspberry Flat car park to the hut, and it typically takes about 4-5 hours. Please ensure you are prepared with proper hiking gear and check the weather conditions before starting.

Public Transport
If you are using public transport, you can take a bus from Queenstown to Wanaka. The bus ride takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once in Wanaka, you will need to either hire a rental car or arrange a shuttle service to Makarora, as public transport options to Raspberry Flat are limited. The shuttle will take you to the Raspberry Flat car park, from which you can begin your hike to Liverpool Hut.
