If you are driving, start from the main visitor center in Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park. Head south on State Highway 80 for approximately 2 kilometers. Look for the sign marking the Red Tarns Track on your left. There is a small parking area at the trailhead where you can leave your vehicle. Make sure to check for parking fees that may apply.

Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take a bus to the Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park. The main bus service is provided by the InterCity bus line, which connects to various locations in New Zealand. Once you arrive at the Aoraki/Mount Cook bus stop, you will need to walk approximately 2 kilometers south along State Highway 80. Keep an eye out for the sign for Red Tarns Track on your left. It's a good idea to wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for the walk. Public transport may incur a fare, typically ranging from NZD 30 to NZD 70 depending on your departure point.

Walking from Visitor Center
If you are already in the vicinity of the visitor center, you can walk to the Red Tarns Track Trail Head. Head south on the main path towards State Highway 80. After approximately 2 kilometers, you will find the trailhead marked by a sign on your left. This is a lovely walk with views of the surrounding mountains, so take your time and enjoy the scenery.
