Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, you can reach Mt Cook Chalets by following the main road through Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park. From the entrance of the park, drive along State Highway 80 for approximately 25 kilometers. You will pass stunning scenery, including the breathtaking views of Aoraki/Mount Cook on your right. Continue until you reach the village of Mount Cook. Upon entering the village, follow the signs towards Mt Cook Chalets, which is located near the base of Aoraki/Mount Cook. There is ample parking available nearby.

    For those using public transportation, the easiest option is to take a bus from Queenstown or Christchurch. The bus services are offered by several companies, including InterCity and GreatSights. Once you arrive at the Mount Cook Village bus stop, you can either walk or take a taxi to Mt Cook Chalets, which is approximately a 10-minute walk (800 meters). Follow the signs towards the chalets, which are situated along the main road within the village.
