Getting There

Car
If you're traveling by car within Mount Cook National Park, start at the Mount Cook Village. Drive along State Highway 80 (SH80) heading south towards the Hooker Valley. Follow the signs for the Hooker Valley Track. After approximately 7 kilometers, you'll find the parking area for the Hooker Valley Track. Park your car here and prepare for a short walk to Mueller Lake.

Walking
From the Hooker Valley parking area, follow the Hooker Valley Track which is well-marked. The track leads you through picturesque landscapes, crossing several swing bridges. After about 1.5 kilometers, you will reach a junction; take the path that leads towards the Mueller Lake lookout. The walk to the lookout is approximately 1 kilometer from the junction, and it will take around 30-40 minutes of easy walking to reach the lake. The views of the lake and surrounding mountains are breathtaking, especially on a clear day.

If you're using public transport, take the InterCity bus service to Mount Cook Village from either Christchurch or Queenstown.
