Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the Mount Cook Visitor Centre. Head south on Mount Cook Road towards State Highway 80. Turn left onto State Highway 80 and continue for approximately 24 kilometers. When you reach the junction with State Highway 8, turn right onto State Highway 8. Drive for about 25 kilometers, following signs towards Tekapo. The Cowans Hill Walkway is located just off State Highway 8, near Tekapo. Look for the signage indicating the walkway entrance, which is accessible from the roadside.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, the closest bus service is from Mount Cook Village to Tekapo. You can take the bus operated by InterCity or other local services that connect these areas. Once you arrive in Tekapo, you will need to walk approximately 1 kilometer to reach the Cowans Hill Walkway entrance. Head towards State Highway 8 and follow the signs directing you to the walkway. Be sure to check the bus schedules ahead of time, as services may be limited.

If you're already in Tekapo, you can easily walk to Cowans Hill Walkway. From the Tekapo township, head towards State Highway 8 and follow the road until you see the signs for Cowans Hill Walkway. The walk from the town to the walkway is about 1 kilometer and will take you approximately 15-20 minutes.
