From Mount Cook Village, head southwest on State Highway 80 towards the Tasman Valley. Continue for about 13 km until you see the sign for Lake McGregor Lookout. Take the left turn onto the access road, which is a gravel path. Drive for approximately 3 km, following the signs to the lookout. The parking area is located at the base of the lookout trail.
