If you are driving, start from the Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park Visitor Centre. From the Visitor Centre, head south on State Highway 80 for about 4 kilometers until you reach the Red Tarns Track car park, which is well-marked. Park your vehicle in the designated area. The trailhead begins here.

From the Red Tarns Track car park, take the well-marked trail that begins at the car park. The hike to Red Tarns Viewpoint is approximately 1.5 kilometers one way and is steep in some sections. Allow around 1 to 1.5 hours to reach the viewpoint, depending on your fitness level. Follow the signs to ensure you stay on the correct path.

If you are using public transportation, check for shuttle services from nearby towns such as Twizel or Tekapo that provide transport to Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park.
