Car
If you are driving from Invercargill, head north on State Highway 1 (SH1) for approximately 20 kilometers. Merge onto State Highway 94 (SH94) towards Te Anau. Continue on SH94 for about 60 kilometers until you reach the junction at the turnoff to Lake Fergus. Turn right onto Lake Fergus Road, and follow the signs for roughly 15 kilometers until you arrive at the lake. Ensure that your vehicle has enough fuel as there are limited services along this route.

From Invercargill, take a bus service that heads towards Te Anau. The bus will drop you off at the Te Anau bus terminal.
