Car
If you're traveling by car, start from Nelson City. Head south on SH6 (State Highway 6) towards Richmond. Continue on SH6 until you reach the junction with SH60. Take the exit towards SH60, following signs for Motueka. After about 10 minutes, you'll see signs for Rabbit Island. Follow the signs to the ferry terminal located at the end of the road. The ferry service operates frequently, and a round-trip ticket costs approximately NZD 12 per adult and NZD 6 for children. Once you arrive at the Rabbit Island ferry terminal, follow the signs to the various parks and recreational areas.

Public Transportation
For those using public transport, take the bus from Nelson to Richmond. Buses run regularly from Nelson to Richmond; you can check the current timetable at the Nelson City Transport website. Once in Richmond, transfer to a bus that goes to Motueka, or you may need to book a shuttle service to the Rabbit Island ferry terminal. Ensure you check the bus schedules in advance, as they may vary. After reaching the ferry terminal, purchase your round-trip ticket for the ferry to Rabbit Island, and enjoy the scenic ride.
