If you're traveling by car, start from Ohakune town. Head north on SH49 (State Highway 49) for about 5 km until you reach the junction with Ohakune Mountain Road. Turn left onto Ohakune Mountain Road and continue for approximately 10 km. Look for the signage indicating Mangawhero Falls. There is a small parking area available near the falls. From the parking area, follow the short walking track to reach Gollum's Pool and Ithilien.
