If you're traveling by car, start your journey in the city of Palmerston North. Head north on State Highway 3 (SH3) towards Wanganui. Continue for approximately 80 kilometers until you reach the town of Ohakune. From Ohakune, turn onto State Highway 49 (SH49) and follow the signs for Whakapapa. After about 27 kilometers, you will arrive at the junction of Bruce Road. Turn right onto Bruce Road and continue driving until you reach the Top of Bruce Road, where Whakapapa is located. Note that parking fees may apply at Whakapapa, especially during peak seasons.
