Car
If you are traveling by car, start by heading to State Highway 47 (SH47). From Turangi, take SH47 towards National Park Village. Continue on SH47 for approximately 17 km until you reach the junction with State Highway 1 (SH1). Turn left onto SH1 and follow the signs to National Park Village, which is about a further 25 km. Once you arrive in National Park Village, you can park your car at the Tongariro Alpine Crossing shuttle parking area. Note that parking fees may apply, and it's a good idea to arrive early as parking can fill up quickly.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, daily shuttle services operate from Wellington, Auckland, and Taupo to National Park Village. Upon arrival at National Park Village, you can catch a shuttle bus specifically for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. The shuttle will drop you off at the start of the track (Mangatepopo Car Park) and pick you up at the end of the track (Ketetahi Car Park). Shuttle services typically require advance booking and range in cost from NZD 30 to NZD 50 per person one way, depending on the service provider.

Once you reach the starting point at Mangatepopo Car Park, follow the marked trail towards the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.
