Car
From New Plymouth, take State Highway 3 south towards the junction with State Highway 45. Continue on State Highway 3 until you reach the junction with State Highway 47. Turn left onto State Highway 47 and follow the signs to National Park Village. Once in National Park Village, take the Whakapapa Road, and follow it until you reach the Tawhai Falls car park. The falls are a short walk from the car park.

Public Transportation
To reach Tawhai Falls via public transport, start by taking a bus from New Plymouth to National Park Village. The bus service, such as the InterCity bus, operates regularly. Once you arrive in National Park Village, you can either walk to the falls, which is approximately a 30-minute trek, or take a taxi for a quicker option. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance and plan your return as the last buses may not operate late.

If you are already in National Park Village, you can walk to Tawhai Falls. Start on the Whakapapa Road, heading towards the falls. The walk is approximately 1.5 kilometers (about 30 minutes) and is well-marked. Enjoy the scenic views along the way, and be mindful of the terrain.
