Start your journey at Wellington's Central Bus Station located on 81-83 Waterloo Quay. From there, take the Metlink bus number 110 towards Upper Hutt. The bus ride will take about 40 minutes. Ask the driver to notify you when you reach the Kaitoke Regional Park stop. Once you arrive at the park, you can find signs that direct you to the Remutaka Rail Trail entrance.

Train and Bus
Begin at Wellington Railway Station located at 1 Bunny Street. Board a train on the Wairarapa Line towards Masterton. You will need to alight at Upper Hutt Station, which takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Upper Hutt Station, exit and transfer to bus number 110 towards the Kaitoke Regional Park. The bus ride from Upper Hutt Station will take around 10 minutes. Get off at the Kaitoke Regional Park stop, and follow the signs to the Remutaka Rail Trail.

Rent a bicycle from one of the bike rental shops in Wellington, such as in the city center. Head towards the Hutt River Trail, which is accessible from various points in Wellington. Cycle along the river trail heading north until you reach the entrance to Kaitoke Regional Park. The total distance is approximately 30 kilometers and will take around 2-3 hours depending on your cycling speed. Follow the signs for Remutaka Rail Trail once you are in the park.
