Getting There

  • Public Transport - Bus

    Start at Wellington's Central Bus Station. Take the Metlink bus number 110 towards Upper Hutt. Make sure to check the bus schedule for departure times. After approximately 40 minutes, disembark at the stop 'Upper Hutt Railway Station'. From there, transfer to bus number 121 towards Te Mārua. This bus journey will take around 15 minutes. Get off at the stop 'Te Mārua'. From this stop, it’s a 15-minute walk to Stuart Macaskill Lookout.

  • Walking from Te Mārua

    After getting off the bus at Te Mārua, head southwest on State Highway 2. Continue walking for about 1.5 kilometers. You will see a trail leading up to the lookout on your right. Follow this trail uphill; it will take approximately 20 minutes to reach the lookout. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as the path can be steep in places.
