From Wellington city center, head to the nearest bus stop at the Wellington Train Station. Take the bus number 83 towards 'Wainuiomata'. The bus will take you through scenic views of the region. Get off at the stop 'Rimutaka Hill'. From there, follow the signs to the Rimutaka Cycle Trail, which leads you to Summit Station. The walk will take around 20-30 minutes.

Catch a train from Wellington Railway Station to Upper Hutt. Once at Upper Hutt, exit the station and walk to the bus stop nearby. Take bus number 83 towards 'Wainuiomata' and alight at 'Rimutaka Hill'. Follow the Rimutaka Cycle Trail on foot to reach Summit Station, which is approximately a 20-30 minute walk.

If you're up for a cycling adventure, rent a bike in Wellington and cycle along the Hutt River Trail towards Upper Hutt.
