Getting There

  • Public Transport

    Start at Wellington's central bus terminal, located at 81-83 Victoria Street. From there, take the number 110 bus towards Upper Hutt. This bus will take approximately 40 minutes. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance to ensure timely arrival. Get off at the Totara Park Road stop. From the bus stop, walk east on Totara Park Road for about 10 minutes. You will see Awakairangi Park on your left.

    If you are near Wellington's central business district, you can walk to the Wellington train station (located at 1 Bunny Street). From the station, take a train heading to Upper Hutt. The train ride will take around 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Upper Hutt station, exit the station and walk north along Pine Avenue. Turn left onto Totara Park Road and continue walking for about 15 minutes until you reach Awakairangi Park, which will be on your right.

    If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from a local bike rental shop in Wellington. Start your ride from the waterfront and head north towards the Hutt River Trail. Follow the trail, which is well-marked, and continue until you reach Upper Hutt. Once you reach the Totara Park area, follow signs to Totara Park Road.
