Bus
From Wellington city, head to the Wellington Railway Station. Once there, purchase a ticket for the Upper Hutt line. Board the train heading towards Upper Hutt. The journey will take approximately 40 minutes. Get off at the Upper Hutt station. From Upper Hutt station, you can catch the number 110 bus towards Stokes Valley. Ask the driver to let you know when you reach the stop for Te Mārua. From the bus stop, it's about a 25-minute walk along the Te Mārua Road. Follow the road until you reach the Stuart Macaskill Lakes.

Start at Wellington Railway Station and take the Upper Hutt train. After about 40 minutes, disembark at Upper Hutt station. From Upper Hutt, take the scenic route walking north along the river towards the lakes. It’s a bit of a hike, approximately 2 hours; make sure to have good walking shoes and enough water.
