Car
If you're traveling by car, start your journey from the nearest major town, Franz Josef Glacier. Head south on State Highway 6 towards Haast. After approximately 25 kilometers, turn left onto Okarito Road. Follow Okarito Road for about 15 kilometers until you reach the small village of Okarito. The Okarito Trig Walk starts near 8 Russell Street in Okarito. There is parking available near the start of the track.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, catch a bus from Franz Josef to Okarito. The bus service operates a few times a day, so be sure to check the schedule in advance. Once you arrive in Okarito, walk to 8 Russell Street, where the Okarito Trig Walk begins. Note: Ensure you have cash for the bus fare, as some services may not accept cards.

Once you are in Okarito, the Okarito Trig Walk trailhead is accessible by foot from the village. Simply head towards 8 Russell Street, where the track begins. The walk to the trig is well marked and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the summit, offering stunning views of the lagoon and surrounding landscapes.
