Walking
Start at the Whanganui City Centre. Head northwest on Victoria Avenue towards the river. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Somme Parade. Turn right onto Somme Parade and walk along the riverbank. Follow the path until you reach the intersection with Anzac Parade. Turn left and continue on Anzac Parade. After about 1.5 km, you will reach the intersection with Otamatea Road. Turn right onto Otamatea Road, and Montgomery Reserve will be on your left after a short walk.

Bicycle
From the Whanganui City Centre, head towards the river along Victoria Avenue. Once you reach the riverbank, take the riverside cycle path heading northwest. Pedal along the path until you reach the junction with Somme Parade. Turn right onto Somme Parade and continue cycling until you reach Anzac Parade. Take a left onto Anzac Parade and cycle for about 1.5 km. Turn right onto Otamatea Road, and Montgomery Reserve will be on your left shortly after.
