Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from Baker City, head west on I-84 for approximately 45 miles. Take exit 304 for Huntington and turn left onto OR-51. Continue on OR-51 for about 10 miles until you reach Huntington. From there, follow Main Street which becomes OR-86. The Van Ornum Battlefield will be located on your right shortly after entering Huntington. Look for the signs indicating the historical site.

• Public Transportation

  If you're using public transportation, start at the Baker City Bus Station. Check the schedule for any available Greyhound or local bus services heading towards Huntington, OR. The trip can take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on the service. Once you arrive in Huntington, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach the Van Ornum Battlefield, as it is roughly 2 miles from the bus stop. Make sure to check local taxi services in advance.

• Bicycle

  For those adventurous enough to bike, you can take the same route as drivers. Cycle west on I-84 using the designated bike lanes where available. It is about 45 miles from Baker City to Huntington. Once in Huntington, use local roads to navigate to the battlefield, which is approximately 2 miles from the center of town. Ensure you're prepared for changes in elevation and road conditions.

• Walking

  If you're staying in Huntington, you can walk to the Van Ornum Battlefield. From the main area of Huntington, head east on Main Street until it becomes OR-86. The battlefield will be on your right after about a 40-minute walk. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially during warmer months.
