Car
If you are traveling by car, take Interstate 84 East from Portland. Follow the signs for Multnomah Falls and take exit 31. After exiting, turn left onto the Historic Columbia River Highway (Hwy 30). Continue for about 2 miles, and you will arrive at the Multnomah Falls parking area. Be aware that there may be a parking fee of around $5, so have cash ready or check for possible digital payment options.
Public Transportation
For public transportation, take the TriMet MAX light rail Blue Line from downtown Portland towards Hillsboro. Get off at the Gateway/NE 99th Ave station, and transfer to the Columbia Gorge Express bus. This bus service operates on weekends and holidays from May to September. Make sure to check the schedule ahead of time as the service may be limited during off-peak seasons. The fare for the bus is approximately $10 for a round trip, and it will take you directly to the Multnomah Falls Visitor Center.
Hiking
If you are already in the vicinity and enjoy hiking, you can access the falls via several scenic trails. The most popular trail starts from the Multnomah Falls Lodge. It's a short hike (about 1 mile) that leads you up to the falls and provides stunning views along the way. Make sure to wear proper hiking shoes and bring water.
