Car
If you are driving along the Karakoram Highway, head towards Gilgit. Upon reaching Gilgit, take the Naltar Valley road which is well marked. This road will lead you to the Naltar Valley. The journey from Gilgit to Naltar Valley is approximately 45 kilometers and can take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on road conditions. Please note that the road to Naltar Valley is narrow and winding, so drive cautiously. Upon arrival at Naltar Valley, follow the signs towards Murky Lake, which is located near Bashkiri Lake.

Public Transportation
To reach Naltar Valley using public transportation, take a local bus or a shared taxi from Gilgit. These vehicles frequently depart from the main bus station in Gilgit. The fare is typically around PKR 400 to PKR 600 per person. The ride to Naltar Valley will take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Upon reaching Naltar Valley, you may need to hire a local jeep to reach Murky Lake, as it is located a few kilometers from the main road.

Jeep Hire
After reaching Naltar Valley, if you haven’t arranged for a jeep beforehand, you can hire one locally. The cost for a jeep to Murky Lake is approximately PKR 2,000 to PKR 3,000 depending on the distance and negotiation. The jeep ride will take around 30 minutes. Ensure the driver knows the route to Murky Lake, which is near Bashkiri Lake.
