Travel Guide to 6th Pennsylvania Cavalry Memorial

Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start on Emmitsburg Road (Route 15). From the center of Gettysburg, head south on Baltimore Street until you reach the intersection with Emmitsburg Road. Turn right onto Emmitsburg Road and continue for about 1.5 miles. The 6th Pennsylvania Cavalry Memorial will be on your right, just past the intersection with Plum Run Road. There is no parking fee, and you can park along the roadside near the memorial.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, take the Gettysburg Bus Tour or the local shuttle service that operates within the battlefield. Look for stops along Emmitsburg Road. The closest stop to the 6th Pennsylvania Cavalry Memorial is near the intersection of Emmitsburg Road and Plum Run Road. After getting off, walk approximately 5 minutes down Emmitsburg Road towards the memorial, which will be on your left. • Biking

  For those biking in Gettysburg, you can use the battlefield bike paths. Start from the Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor Center and head south on the bike path towards Emmitsburg Road. Follow the path until you reach the intersection with Emmitsburg Road. Turn left and ride for about 1 mile. The memorial will be on your right. Ensure your bike is equipped with safety features, and be mindful of traffic when crossing the road.

• Walking

  If you are staying near the Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor Center, you can also walk to the memorial. Head south on Baltimore Street and turn onto Emmitsburg Road. Continue walking for about 1.5 miles. The memorial will be on your right. This walk should take approximately 30-40 minutes, so wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
