If you are driving from the nearby town of Peso da Régua, take the N-222 road heading north towards Guimarães. Continue on N-222 for approximately 35 kilometers until you reach the roundabout at Guimarães. Take the first exit onto Av. de Dom João IV. Follow this road until you reach Largo Martins Sarmento, where the Igreja Nossa Senhora do Carmo is located. There is parking available nearby.

The train station in Peso da Régua is located near the river; follow the signs to the station. Once you arrive in Guimarães, exit the train station and walk towards the bus terminal. From there, take bus line 1 or 2 which will take you close to Largo Martins Sarmento. Disembark at the stop named 'Largo da Oliveira' and walk for about 5 minutes to reach the Igreja Nossa Senhora do Carmo.
